Student Benefits

At the end of the project each student or small group of students will have an opportunity to perform at our Spotlight Showcase event. That event will likely take place a month or so after their six months of music and instrumental training. The Foundation will promote this Spotlight Showcase event with the help of Belinda Foster, an LA based public relations and promotions firm.

There is considerable evidence that participation in music education and activity can and does change aspirations in disadvantaged groups (Devroop study 2009). Several studies from educational institutions and other organizations in the US, and those conducted in Europe, found positive learning improvement in curricular studies when music education was part of student life.

When self-esteem increases, the motivation to perform at a higher level persists. Music education and the motivation to participate is closely linked to self-perceptions of ability, efficacy and aspirations. (Hallam, 2005). It is our conclusion that kids benefit greatly by participation in music and by having access to music education in a professional environment. Your donation to the BEST Foundation will have a positive and lasting impact on the lives of the many students who are granted the opportunity provided by the Spotlight Project.
